Springwood State High School All Set to Celebrate Graduating Seniors with Awards Day 

Springwood State High School's 2022 Graduation & Awards ceremony is locked and loaded to recognise graduating students and award winners this week.

Hundreds of graduates and their teachers and families will come together to celebrate their achievements when Springwood State High School holds its Graduation & Awards Ceremony at the school's MPS and Performing Arts Centre, Friday 18 November 2022.

This year's ceremony will honour 71 students graduating from Springwood State High School. As in previous years, the annual event will also recognise their major in-house awards as well as some major external awards across school leadership and leading learners to active community citizenship and teamwork.

Across 22 awards, students and teachers will receive recognition across a range of disciplines, including leadership and innovation, Springwood Learners and Springwood Citizens, apprenticeship and traineeship, DUX and sporting, vocation, and P&C.

Springwood State High School's in-house awards will include:

-           Academic Excellence Award

-           Academic Merit Award

-           Storm Award

-           Subject Award

-           Sports Awards

Some of major awards include:

  • Jim Chalmers Award
  • Mick de Brenni Award (Snr & Jnr)
  • Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork (Snr & Jnr)
  • Long Tan Youth Innovators Award (Snr & Jnr)
  • AMPOL Best All Rounder
  • QATSIF Award
  • Springwood Citizens Award (11 in total)
  • Principal's Leadership Award (2 of)
  • Vocational Student of the Year (Snr & Jnr)
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • SSHS DUX
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Pat Redgwell Award (sporting award)
  • P&C Best All Rounder
  • Trainee of the Year
  • P&C Community Services Volunteer of the Year Award

As part of the celebrations, students and their special guests will have the opportunity to hear from a range of inspirational occasional speakers from across industry and the community.

Some VIP guest speakers include, Division 1 Councillor Lisa Bradley, Public Works Minister Mick de Brenni, Assistant Regional South East Region Director Darren Wallwork as well Springwood State High Schools P&C Executive Committee and several Primary School Principals.

Principal and commencement speaker, Melanie Harth will be marking the 45th anniversary of the first graduating class at Springwood State High School, with the school first opening its gates in 1977.

β€œWe're excited to recognise all of the immense efforts undertaken by our 2022 seniors, both in Academic accomplishments and within the wider-community," said Principal Harth.

β€œWe're confident that our soon to be graduands now harness the skills they need to embrace change and innovation, as they venture off into their various future pathways and can't wait to celebrate together next Friday."

To mark the success in leadership and innovation, Principal Harth will also be recognising teachers and some external partners in their many achievements across leadership and sporting success to academic achievement and innovation.
