Our learning is built on 21st century innovative curriculum. Our school is a South East Regional educational leader in driving teaching and learning focused on twenty-first century deep learning practices. Michael Fullan's research and evidenced based approach to New Pedagogies for Deep Learning, underpins our philosophy.
We have focused on developing leader and teacher capacity in deep learning and driving our focus on student engagement in learning. We have honed on our vision of the Springwood Learner and the development of the 6C's for 21st century skills for our students. This year teachers and students engaged with collaboration and improved our learning outcomes through planning and learning together. Our commitment to educating the whole student or investing in our young people to develop well-rounded, empathetic, humans has seen our school community embrace the C's of citizenship and character.
The development of our Springwood Learner and their progression across six years of high schooling to become “The Springwood Storm" has driven our collective focus on character and citizenship. Students and staff have demonstrated and developed their STORM characteristics; strength, tenacity, optimism, resilience and motivation in their learning this year. We embrace and utilize the digital landscape by leveraging One Note and Education Perfect as key tools for planning and engaging in teaching and learning.
Our commitment, dedication and alignment to the 6C's of the Springwood Learner have also influenced our leadership. As a staff of Springwood Leaders and life-long learners, we commit to the 6C's and challenging ourselves to also align to these characteristics. We are purposeful in our collaboration; working, learning and achieving as a united whole school team through CPT's (Collaborative Planning Teams) and out four houses - Academia, Action, Activist and the Arts. We recognise our roles as citizens in our school; local, educational and global communities. We have actively communicated with each other, with students, with parents and our wider school community. We bring creative and critical thinking skills to our profession, teaching and daily work. We focus on character; we role model our STORM attributes and epitomise the role of a quality teacher in our profession – and for that I am humbled to lead such a high performing team. A team which is committed to our moral purpose and vision for 21st century innovative curriculum and are leading innovative and student-focused improvement for teaching and learning.
