Student Enhancement Program (SEP)students with additional needs

Springwood State High School provides an inclusive environment for all students. It is a core component of our Culture of Care.

Students with a disability (SWD) are supported across the school to ensure they have opportunities to succeed and access the curriculum alongside their peers. This support is targeted to academic success and social and emotional well-being. The school uses the Team Teaching model to support students during lessons. Staff work collaboratively to monitor and review data to inform their teaching practices. They source evidence-based practices to ensure lesson delivery is structured to engage all students.

The SEP teachers are assigned as case managers and are allocated a group of students. They are the students’ advocate. This model allows the case manager to build positive relationships with the students and parents/carers. They also formulate strategies targeting the students’ strengths and weaknesses to build confidence. SWD are provided opportunities to reach their potential in terms of educational and vocational outcomes. The case manager also attends to their social and emotional well-being.  The staff of the SWD team are dedicated to enrich the educational lives of every student in their care. Their commitment to service delivery is evidenced by the success of students in senior secondary and post school pathways. Springwood State High School offers a breadth of programs to support the socialisation of the students. The school also has strong partnerships with outside organisations and members of the community.
