Access Arrangements and reasonable adjustments (AARA)
If a Year 12 student is absent from school on the date assessment is due – or does not submit assessment for any reason – they must make contact with the HOD Senior Schooling or Deputy Principal on or before the assessment due date. School staff will work with the student and family regarding the grounds for AARA and an AARA Application which the school will submit to QCAA. Absence due to illness must be supported by a medical certificate. Please be mindful that medical practitioners will not backdate medical certificates. If you experience difficulty making an appointment with your regular GP on the day assessment is due, please be aware that there are a number of online telehealth services who will book same-day appointments to provide medical certificates and/or there are Community Health Hubs in our local area who can see patients on the day of illness and provide a medical certificate.

AARA Application
The QCAA requires a medical report for medical claims for AARA or illness and misadventure.
Medical reports may be completed by the student's general practitioner (GP), medical specialist, or psychologist (registered under Queensland's Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009). The health professional providing a report must not be related to the student or employed by the school. The information provided needs to be current and relate to the relevant assessment period.
Information provided in this report is treated in strictest confidence and is used only for the purpose of determining the AARA application.
